The Dispossessed and the Devotees of Davos

“This [world economic] forum was founded in 1971, but did not become a major force until after the Cold War ended. It then became a great social whirl based on the illusion of a harmonious world conjured up by transnational business elites under the rubric of ‘globalization.’ Its real purpose, however, is to use private wealth to corrupt national leaders into betraying the interests of their people” (William R. Hawkins … Senior Fellow for National Security Studies at the U.S. Business and Industry Council).  February 01, 2006

“Over 2,500 leaders from business, government, international organizations, civil society, academia, media and the arts will participate in the 46th Annual Meeting of the World Economic Forum in Davos-Klosters, Switzerland, on 20-23 January.”
“The theme of the Meeting is ‘Mastering the Fourth Industrial Revolution.’”

“Mr. Trudeau [Prime Minister of Canada] will first travel to Davos, Switzerland, to speak to the annual gathering of world leaders and wealthy executives on Jan. 21 at a special session entitled ‘A New Chapter for Canada.’” Robert Fife, The Globe and Mail.

And former Prime Minister Stephen Harper announced changes to Canada’s old age security in Davos to a gathering of the world’s elite before discussing it in the Canadian parliament.

“World Economic Forum Annual Meeting 2016 [in Davos]
For over four decades, the World Economic Forum’s mission – improving the state of the world – has driven the design and development of the Annual Meeting programme.”

It surely is a laudable goal, “improving the state of the world.” But, a cynic might be inclined to think the world is not “improving” and have cause to wonder if many of the devotees of Davos have been complicit in the tragedies of the dispossessed?[1]
Powerful people attend these meetings in Davos. Some are representatives of governments, others are bankers and financiers, and others are chief executives of multinational corporations. Some multi-national corporations are heavily involved in the “war business.” [1a] Massive bloodstained profits are being made from all this hellish carnage. Therefore, the business of war is definitely not, “improving the state of the world.” But, I guess it is not good form to criticize the “war business” at Davos.

“Davos people control virtually all international institutions, many of the world’s governments, and the bulk of the world’s economic and military capabilities.” - Samuel P. Huntington

Regarding the “military capabilities” of many of the participants in Davos; this question could be asked, are some of them responsible for the tragedy of millions of refugees around the world? Their countries, cities and homes reduced to smoking rubble in illegal wars. Millions dead, soldiers dead or maimed, children contaminated and slaughtered, and hell on earth being enacted daily. Some governments are even reportedly funding, training and arming the terrorists they are supposed to be fighting. Could one call this hellish evil “The rule and roles of dangerous hypocrites?” [2] And some of these well-heeled, expensively dressed participants in the Davos forums were bailed out with taxpayers’ dollars during the so-called “financial crisis”! Meanwhile, ordinary people lost their homes, their pension funds went into the dumpster and austerity was imposed on them. No bailouts for them!  [2b] But hey, the “Davosians” say their “mission” is about “improving the state of the world,” and who would criticize that noble vision? In 2015 in Davos their theme was, “The New Global Context.”

“The 45th Annual Meeting of the World Economic Forum, which will take place 21-24 January [2015] in Davos-Klosters, Switzerland, is to convene under the theme, The New Global Context.... Participating in the meeting will be 2,500 leaders, including the heads of 1,000 of the world’s largest and most successful businesses, heads of state or government from the G20 group and other nations, the heads of the world’s foremost international organizations alongside leaders from civil society, labour unions, the world’s major religions, media and the arts....”

Gee isn’t that a wonderful gathering of the “global community?” I hope some of them can afford the “invitation” to the “meeting.” It “only” costs “a minimum $71,000” to attend in 2015. [3]

So all you people struggling to make a living and suffering from austerity, just remember this: there is “No austerity for the globalists in Davos.” But they are very busy “improving” and "Reshaping the world" at Davos.[4]

“...Harvard Professor Samuel P. Huntington described Davos Man (a phrase that first got widespread attention in the 1990s) as an emerging global superspecies — and a threat. The members of this class, he wrote, are people who ‘have little need for national loyalty, view national boundaries as obstacles that thankfully are vanishing, and see national governments as residues from the past whose only useful function is to facilitate the élite's global operations.’” [5]

“Globalization is the economic treason that dare not speak it name.” Patrick Buchanan Journalist and Author.
