Does Money Make Questionable “Allies” Respectable?

“Islamic State (Isil), with its newly conquered territory, oilfields and bank vaults, no longer needs much foreign money. But its extraordinarily swift rise to this point, a place where it threatens the entire region and the West, was substantially paid for by the allies of the West. Isil’s cash was raised in, or channelled through, Kuwait and Qatar, with the tacit approval and sometimes active support of their governments.” -Andrew Gilligan, Telegraph U.K. September 6, 2014.

These governments of the Persian Gulf have huge amounts of money invested in the West. Qatar has big money invested in Britain. [1] And western governments are falling over themselves to get some of the action. Even though some of these same Persian Gulf “governments” are reportedly giving “active support” to the Islamic State.

“Our ally Kuwait has become the epicenter of fundraising for terrorist groups in Syria.”

Canadian troops are to be based in Kuwait. And the Canadian Government has signed FIPA, a business agreement with that country. The Telegraph U.K. newspaper of September 6, 2014 had the headline: “How our allies in Kuwait and Qatar funded Islamic State... Gulf states of Kuwait and Qatar have actively – and openly – helped terrorist money-raising efforts for Isil”

Mr. Harper the P.M. of Canada is supposedly against terrorism, and I say that’s good. Therefore, why would he allow Canadian troops to be based in Kuwait if the words in the Telegraph newspaper are true? After all, these are his “allies” who “funded the Islamic State.”  Does he not know what is happening in the world?
Still, Mr. Harper is not the only P.M. to have Kuwait and Qatar as an “ally. The Telegraph U.K. of October 26, 2014 had this headline: “David Cameron must speak frankly to our Gulf friends.  We cannot count among our close friends those tainted by the financing of bloodthirsty jihad.”

Another “close friend” of western politicians is Saudi Arabia, and it too is reportedly “financing and training the ISIl terrorists,”

“Lest we forget, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, have been financing and training the ISIL terrorists on behalf of the United States.  Israel is harbouring the Islamic State in the Golan Heights, NATO in liaison with the Turkish high command has since March 2011 been involved in coordinating the recruitment of the jihadist fighters dispatched to Syria. Moreover, the ISIL brigades are integrated by Western special forces and military advisers....” [2] Prof Michael Chossudovsky
Global Research, September 25, 2014.

And an article in the Asia Times of Sep 22, 2014, had the headline: “How Syrian jihad spawned Islamic State” by Nauman Sadiq. This article went on to say,

“Last year the chiefs of staff of the US, Britain, France, Canada, Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Turkey met in Jordan; and a report by UAE's newspaper... also mentions the existence of a secret command center in Jordan which is staffed by military officials from 14 Western and Arab countries including Israel. This command center coordinates the operations of the rebels (jihadis) in southern Syria; while the operations of the jihadis in northern Syria are coordinated by similar command centers and bases in Turkey....”[2]

And of course Turkey is a NATO member. Surely, we can count on them?
“Then there is Turkey, an actual NATO member,... Turkey has allowed ISIS to be replenished by allowing its own territory to be used as a transit zone for jihadist volunteers....” - Scott McConnell, October 15, 2014.

There are numerous questions that need to be asked if all this double dealing and treachery by “allies” is true.
Could Canadian and other allied troops come under fire from weapons sold to “allies”?  Could ISIL get access to some of these weapons, as they are reportedly getting funding from some “allies”? Should some of our “allies,” if found to be funding ISIL, be put on trial for treason? Are some of our political leaders accessories after the fact? [2a] Who is profiting from all this murder and bloodshed? Why is most of the corporate media covering up the connections between “allies” and ISIL?  Why are our spy agencies not broadcasting or exposing these connections between ISIL and “allies”?  And finally has money corrupted those in positions of power that they are silent on the reported treachery of their “allies?”

“Our allies are up to their necks in complicity with terrorism, but as long as there is money to be made and weapons to sell, our rulers’ lips will remain stubbornly sealed.” Owen Jones, the Guardian, U.K. August 31, 2014.
